Mary passed away suddenly on May 1, 2015. She was born in Vernon, BC, on June 17, 1935, and grew up in Oyama, BC. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Charles (Peter) Bailey and is survived by her children, Monica Jackson (Michael), Roger Bailey (Diane), Seasonn Bailey and her grandchildren, Jenny, Julia, Claire, David and Rebekah. In addition to her UBC degree from the Faculty of Agriculture, she also received a BSc/BEd from the University of Lethbridge. She was a member of the Canadian Federation of University Women in both Lethbridge and Vernon for more than 50 years. Mary strongly believed in environmental education and preservation and over the years she held many positions related to these issues. Mary was an innovative cook, and enjoyed Japanese flower arranging and calligraphy. She was happiest outside in natural surroundings.
