UBC Alumni Association Governance Review

The UBC Alumni Association Board of Directors is engaged in a review of its governance structure with the goal of enhancing the UBCAA’s effectiveness in serving alumni, students, and the university. During this process the board has reconfirmed its commitment to: ensuring it has an influential and distinct voice within the alumni and university community; growing and deepening alumni engagement; and being a stronger connection point and forum for alumni volunteer leaders across the university community.

The board has examined best practices, consulted with alumni leaders and university constituencies and considered the university’s national and global objectives. The board has determined that it should be structured to more effectively provide the UBCAA with strategic direction and to ensure the UBCAA has the necessary resources to effectively fulfill its commitment to growing alumni engagement. Additionally, it has been determined that an Alumni Association Advisory Council will be created to provide advice and counsel to the board and AVP, Alumni/Executive Director of the UBCAA. The council will be comprised of stakeholders from key university and alumni constituencies.
