John Litchfield Mitchell, BASc’50

April 24, 1924 – May 30, 2011.

John passed away peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2011, at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, June, and three children. John served in the Navy during WWII on HMCS Arnprior. After the war, he attended UBC and after graduation worked for the Dominion Bridge Company in Calgary as a PEng from 1951 until retirement.

A life‑long member of APEGGA, John loved the mountains and spent hours hiking and skiing with an outdoor club. In later years he was passionate about his tufa rock gardens and woodworking around the home. He was poetic, artistic, athletic and intelligent to the end.
