V. Victoria Shroff, BA’90, LLB’96

Victoria Shroff is grateful to have received a February 2020 SEEDS Award from the August International Society for Animal Rights (1959), based in the USA. The award recognizes her 20-year career as a practitioner and adjunct professor in the field of animal law. She is also a finalist nominee for the “Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada 2020” in the “Changemakers” category. Shroff has had an exciting year. She worked on BC's first dangerous dog case at the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa; taught a brand-new course that she developed for paralegals at Capilano University; continued to teach at the UBC law school; wrote plenty of articles; and started a host of new animal law projects. She is starting the Vancouver Animal Law Study Group.  There is even a new rock song that mentions Shroff and animal rights.
