Bullied Minds, Bullied Bodies: Gendered Identities in our Classrooms and Beyond
UBC Alumni Affairs and the UBC Faculty of Education in partnership with the Vancouver Queer Film Festival presented a special screening of the acclaimed film Tomboy. The film tells the story of 11-year-old Laure (Zoe Heran), who passes as a boy among her new peers, and learns about the difficult limits of adolescent tolerance of gender. Gender identity and bullying are issues that arise every day in classrooms and communities across the country and around the world. Immediately following the film, a panel of experts addressed key questions and emerging issues on the intersections of bullying, gender identities, and current realities in the education system.
