Energy vs. Environment: Do we have to choose?
Pipelines, refinery construction projects and natural gas “fracking” are hot topics in BC at the moment. Western Canada enjoys an abundance of energy resources, but it has become impossible to discuss these reserves without getting caught up in politics. The risks of extracting and transporting these resources are great, but the potential rewards are too. Can we put a price on possible contaminated water tables and oil spills? Are the jobs and tax revenues worth the cost? Is there a way to get the best of both worlds?
