In Conversation with Mellissa Fung
In October 2008, Mellissa Fung, BA’94, a reporter with CBC’s The National, was kidnapped at gunpoint. For more than a month, she was forced to live in a hole in the ground barely larger than she was, surviving on cookies and juice. In her new book, Under an Afghan Sky, Fung takes the reader inside her experience. She gets inside the motivations of her captors and reveals the resiliency that allowed her to survive. She takes the stage for a one-on-one discussion with Kirk LaPointe, CBC Ombudsman and an Adjunct Professor with the UBC Graduate School of Journalism.
