The world of collectible art can seem insular, confusing, and downright expensive. Even experts often don’t agree about what makes a work of art worth more or less… or worth collecting at all. Does its value lie in the subjective experience of its audience, or its financial worth as an object? And how close is the correlation between the two, given that some of the most expensive works of art are not universally lauded?
