Mary Elizabeth (née Melville) Matousek, BSN’61

Mary MatousekMary Elizabeth Matousek died on January 25, 2015, in Englewood, Colorado – three-and-a-half years after her diagnosis for pancreatic cancer. She is survived by Jan, her husband of nearly 50 years; her children, Peter (Kristin) and Kathryn (Mike); and her grandchildren, Oscar, Georgia, Charles, Ian, and Will. Mary Beth was born in Vancouver on July 14, 1938, the daughter of Charles and Mildred Melville. She attended elementary school, Lord Byng Secondary School, and UBC. She graduated with a BSc in Nursing in 1961 and pursued a professional career as a registered nurse (RN) in Montreal, Vancouver, Questa, New Mexico, Kingston, Sudbury, and Denver, Colorado. She retired from The Colorado Allergy and Asthma Centers after 25 years of dedicated and much enjoyed service. Her passions were her children and grandchildren; her school and university classmates; her profession and professional associates; her neighbours (she was a good one and so were they); her gardens; her quilts (and quilters); and all Canadian hockey teams. A private memorial service was held.
